Shaun Murphy

A partner in the firm, Shaun’s practice focuses on complex civil litigation, including contractual and real estate disputes, private and public construction disputes, intellectual property matters, and professional and product liability defense litigation.. Shaun has extensive mediation, arbitration, and trial experience, and is admitted to practice in California and Michigan, the United States District Courts for the Northern, Central and Southern Districts of California, the United States Courts of Appeal for the Sixth and Ninth Circuits, and the United States Supreme Court.

Shaun was born and raised in Buffalo, New York. He attended the State University of New York at Buffalo for two years and completed his undergraduate education at San Francisco State University, graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations. During his two years at SUNY Buffalo, Shaun was a pitcher on the school’s varsity baseball team. Shaun received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. In addition to graduating in the top third of his class, Shaun was honored with an American Jurisprudence award in Corporations, was selected for the “Who’s Who Among American Law Students,” took first place in the National Appellate Advocacy Competition, Western Region, and served on the school’s Moot Court Board.

After graduating, Shaun practiced as an attorney in the law firm of Warner, Norcross & Judd LLP in Grand Rapids, Michigan. During his tenure with this firm, Shaun obtained extensive and valuable experience in a broad range of complex civil litigation matters including banking and financial services, employment discrimination claims, and representing manufacturers in multi-jurisdictional product defect/recall actions. Shaun returned to California in 1997 and joined the firm of Krieg, Keller, Sloan, Reilley & Roman LLP, in San Francisco, where he continued to concentrate on complex civil litigation matters, including construction disputes featuring delay/disruption/ acceleration claims, contractual and real estate disputes, product liability litigation involving the use of mechanical and recreational equipment, and intellectual property matters.

In 2004, Shaun and his wife, Diana had twin boys and decided to move to the desert to take advantage of its unique combination of professional, educational, lifestyle and golfing opportunities.

Shaun has been an adjunct professor of Legal Writing and Research at Hastings College of the Law, and he is an active member of the La Quinta and Palm Desert Chambers of Commerce, the Desert Bar Association, the Desert Contractor’s Association, the Warren Slaughter Inn of Court, the American, Desert and Riverside County Bar Associations.
